So, I have this passion, or maybe more of an addiction, for art shirts. I've blogged about Woot! shirts, now to cover another of my favorite artist tee sites. Teextile is similar to Woot!, in that they have artist submissions for shirt designs. The shirt of the day is $12, with a different shirt M-F, but it is also available all week for $15. I loved Friday's shirt, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy another green shirt! I have too many--with a science passion as well, many of the science themed shirts tend to be green.
I am super excited for the week of August 3-9, when the theme is "Funky Colors Week". No boring colors on shirts.

Risking to Blossom...
And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom. ~Anais Nin

I LOVE Pandora. Free internet music, and the really great thing is that it creates a playlist based on one of your fave songs or artists. It plays songs with similar beats, themes, and genres that you may like. www.pandora.com
Some of my Pandora stations are based on Patsy Cline, Buck Cherry's Crazy B***h, Terri Clark, Roxette, Blue October, Snow Patrol's Crack the Shutters, The Killers' Spaceman, and Shooter Jennings. Yeah, I have a huge range of music interest, I love just about all of it, except rap, disco, and techno. I'm listening to Shooter Jennings radio now as I work on my notecard for my physics test on Monday. I just heard this beautiful song written and sung by Shooter: Sweet Savannah.
Sweet Savannah Lyrics:
So, it comes to the end of the day
And I’m checking out of my hotel room today
It’s been two years since I’ve seen your face
The girl beside me reminds me how you taste
Since I’ve seen you, I’ve been beaten down and bruised
And every day I’m feeling more and more misused
I never thought that I would be without your love
Years gone by, you’re still the one I’m thinking of
Chorus:
Sweet Savannah, you shine so bright
May the evening bring your favorite night
Sweet Savannah, you been gone so long
But I’ve got to move on
It’s getting cold, I put my jacket on your back
And we smoke a cigarette, the last one in the pack
I still remember exactly what you said
That you had demons that you couldn’t put to bed
Now I’m leaving, yeah, I’m moing out west
And it’s time for us to lay our history to rest
I still remember a tear drop in your eye
But you know I couldn’t stand to see you cry
Repeat Chorus
So I close on this Hollywood night
Where this counter-culture cultivates an emptiness inside
Would it be different if you were still here in my life
Would I be sober, and would you be my wife?
Chorus:
Sweet Savannah, you shine so bright
May the evening be your favorite night
Sweet Savannah, you been gone so long
But I’ve got to be movin’ on
This is just so scientifically wrong that I have to write about it. So, some of you know that I am a big Woot! fan. Love the Woot website, love their daily deal, but most of all, I love their t-shirts at shirt.woot. Here's the deal--they have themed design competitions, derbies, for t-shirt designs. For instance, the shirts that are selling right now had the theme of "Sun". People vote, then the #1 shirt is sold on Friday, #2 on Saturday, and #3 on Sunday. The rest of the days of the week, random non-winners from previous derbies are sold. Shirts are $10 plus tax, no shipping. Only available one day, unless they make the all-time bestsellers list. A fabulous rare shirt for $10.60 or so, pretty cool. I buy them all the time for me and my kids.
So, this atrocity to the left won the "Sun" derby. Now, I am no astronomer, in fact I have never even taken astronomy, but this shirt is just wrong. I'm pretty sure it's impossible for the sun to break apart like this, considering it is all gas. Not solid, gas. Sure, there are some changes in the core due to the pressure, heat, and gases, but this is over the top. And how about those solar flares? A solar flare is one of the theories of what may have happened to the dinosaurs. If there were a solar flare, those people would be goners long before what's on this shirt.
Maybe I'm being too harsh here. The art is remarkable, I would buy it if it made more sense, but I just can't. Click the image to go to shirt.woot. 2nd place will be shown and available for purchase at midnight, hoping the voters were smarter on that one.
